Summary

From Laura Gehl, author of One Big Pair of Underwear and Cat Has a Plan, comes a laugh-out-loud Ready-to-Go! Ready-to-Read about a hungry goat interrupting a sleepy cat’s naptime。

Cat wants to nap, and Goat wants to eat。 The problem is, every time Cat finds a cozy bed for napping, Goat eats it! When Goat feels sick from overeating and wants to take a nap himself, will Cat get revenge?

Perfect for kids at the beginning of their reading journeys, Goat Wants to Eat was written for children who have learned the alphabet and are ready to start reading! And what better way to get kids excited than with a fun story featuring words they can actually read and starring some very funny animals?

Each Ready-to-Go! Ready-to-Read includes a note to parents explaining what their child can expect, a guide at the beginning for readers to become familiar with the words they will encounter in the story, and reading comprehension questions at the end。 Each Ready-to-Go! story contains around 100 words and features sight words, rhyming words, and repetition to help children reinforce their new reading skills。 In this book, readers will learn seven sight words, and eleven words from four word families。 So come on and get reading!

A great reader for kids who are just learning how to read/phonics。 I also anted to make note of it here in GoodReads because it's so funny。 A great reader for kids who are just learning how to read/phonics。 I also anted to make note of it here in GoodReads because it's so funny。 。。。more

Fun and funny。 Kids just stepping into reading will want to read this one again and again, just for the giggles。 But they'll also be learning sight words。 Learning should be fun, yes! Goat and Cat have pretty different views on how to spend a day - and the contrastsare hilarious。 Lively text and playful illustrations make this a perfect introduction toindependent reading。

What a clever and fun book—I was chuckling out loud! This story uses simple rhyming and sight words to tell a story about the conflict between Goat and Cat。 I love the introduction that lists all the words in the book—just 24—and defines what kind of words they are。 There is also a brief set of questions in the back to continue the discussion。 I think this is a great readaloud as well as perfect for beginning readers。 The illustrations are super fun too!

I’m loving this series for a recent kindergarten graduate。 It combines story brilliantly with simple text。

Loved reading this book with my baby boy。 I giggled with the turn of every page。 I can’t wait for him to start reading on his own。 The focus on simple sentences and word families will really help him when he transitions to being a reader。 But what I really liked is that most early reader books are just lists of words with no real plot。 Goat Wants to Eat had a great storyline and more importantly, a wonderful friendship between Cat and Goat。

Who doesn't love a goat on a donut floatie? GOAT WANTS TO EAT is a real treat for developing readers jumping into their first solo reading experience。 The text keeps the energy up with short, simple sentences that feature satisfying rhythm and rhyme; the illustration delights with humor。 The backmatter is nice and short, not homework-like or overwhelming。 A perfect book for new readers! It always amazes me what can be done with the short text of an early reader。 This book is hilarious。 Cat wants to nap but Goat keeps eating everything Cat wants to nap on。 First the mat, then the seat, then a coat。 Can't Cat get some rest? Is there anything Goat won't eat? Kids will laugh out loud while reading this one。 It always amazes me what can be done with the short text of an early reader。 This book is hilarious。 Cat wants to nap but Goat keeps eating everything Cat wants to nap on。 First the mat, then the seat, then a coat。 Can't Cat get some rest?
